new in version 1.1.0: you can now (painlessly) include drivers specific to your computer (using reatogo's "autodriver" included in the sgtxp start menu). this includes network cards, sound cards and video drivers. read the instructions for more information.
sgtxp is a bootable "live" cd-rom (or usb thumb drive) containing windows xp with a "pre-installed environment" (pe) that can be used for several tasks:
sgtxp is not a windows xp installation cd-rom. the cd-rom that you build will not format your hard drives or install anything on your computer.
even if you have no use for a disaster recovery cd-rom/usb solution right now, you should consider building sgtxp immediately because you never know when windows will screw up and fail to start up properly... and by then it will be too late. build this cd-rom now and you might just save yourself from having to do an emergency format and re-install of windows xp!
sgtxp works on any windows nt/2000/xp/2003 based computer.
sgtxp is a project that creates an iso image and/or bootable cd-rom (or usb thumb drive) that contains a copy of your windows xp files in a "pre-installed environment" that contains all of the tools you will ever need to access, repair, recover data or disinfect (viruses/spyware) any windows nt, windows 2000, windows xp or windows 2003 computer.
this is not an "installation" of windows that gets installed to your hard drive. this is a bootable "live" cd for "disaster recovery" so you can access your drives, fix any problems and then reboot to normal windows --- without having to format and start over from scratch. the benefit to this "live" cd is that you will be working inside of a customized environment that you already know: windows xp!
sgtxp is your "swiss army knife" for complete system recovery for windows nt, windows 2000, windows xp and windows 2003.
this image contains a complete barrage of system tools and utilities and hundreds of network/storage drivers.
there are literally hundreds of tools included... i find something new every time i reboot!
you can either burn the iso to a cd-rom or usb thumb drive and then boot from that device, or you can load the iso in microsoft virtual pc 2004 sp1 which will boot sgtxp inside your current windows session.
in both cases, you need to install the ramdisk first (explained in instructions).
